Gouache and prismacolor on Leuchtturm1917 paper.
Painted in Holbein gouache with added detail in prismacolor pencil, this piece was created for a one-year-old client named Margot. Firstly, paint was applied in washes and then several opaque layers to build up dimension and texture, and lastly, prismacolor was delicately layered over paint.
This piece was inspired by the affinity Isabella Stewart Gardner held for Venice, and Italy in general, and the many adventures she had there.
